Due to the forecast of severe weather in our area we are postponing the Fall Campout at Little Bennett on Friday October 2-3. The Pack Committee will be researching the best day and location for the campout reschedule. When a new date and/or location for the reschedule is identified, we will update the rest of the pack families. Thank you for your patience.
We know that many of the Scouts and their families were excited about this opportunity. We plan to make every effort to plan a safe alternative, and we hope you will all still be able to join us.
Popcorn, popcorn, come get your popcorn!
Thank you all Scouts and parents that have been selling popcorn! For those who placed popcorn orders in September, the pick up will be Saturday, October 17 from 1-3pm at the Leaman’s house, 9500 Brink Road, Gaithersburg, 301-869-0669.
The second and final deadline to turn in any orders is Friday, October 30. Please double check your orders before turning them in, making sure checks are made out to Pack 468, that the money matches the order, and that your Scout has picked out his prize.
Contact Pia Leaman or Anna Yackoski if you have any questions.
As you may already know, a dangerous weather pattern is developing for our region over the weekend. The threats include heavy rainfall and high winds. The Pack committee is continuously monitoring the storm and will wait unit Thursday afternoon (5pm) to make a final decision on the Fall Pack Campout. While the scouts will typically campout in the rain, we want to have the most up to date weather information when we make our evaluation. If the campout is canceled, we will make every effort to reschedule. We thank you for your patience.
I wanted to take a few moments to welcome back all of our returning Scout families and to welcome for the first time our new families and their Scouts.
This is a very exciting year. This year, the Cub Scout program has undergone a very significant adaptation of its program. In order to adjust for this change, many of our traditional events have been modified or moved to help our Scouts complete the Adventures needed for their Rank Advancement. Please check the latest version of the pack calendar or on this website for the most up to date information.
One of the most significant changes is that our Wolf and Bear Scouts need to participate in either camping with their families or with the Pack. For this reason, we have added a Pack campout to this fall’s schedule. This campout will be at the group site at Little Bennett Regional park starting FRIDAY evening October 2nd. Meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast) will be organized and prepared as a pack – so that is one less thing for many of our families to worry about.
We also have tremendous resources available to us if your family needs help with tents or other camping gear, let us know so we can help you.
The final details, menu, and final cost will be coming soon. Our camp master for this event is Jim Jiron.
Our Webelos and Tiger families are also encouraged to join us for the campout, or at the very least our Friday night campfire.
I hope to see you all there.
