Cub Scout Pack 468
Montgomery Village, Maryland
Cub Scouts is a program of Scouting America (previously Boy Scouts of America). The program is open to Boys and Girls in Kindergarten through the 5th grade. When the Cub Scouts complete the program, or 5th grade, they would then join a Scouts BSA Troop.
Cub Scouting is a family program. While not all events and activities are age appropriate for everyone, families are welcome participate in Pack activities (safety permitting).
The way cub scouts works is that every registered Scout becomes a member of a Den. The Dens then engage in age appropriate adventures to complete the adventure awards and eventually their rank award.
- Lion Dens are for Kindergarten boys and girls
- Tiger Dens are for 1st grade boys and girls
- Wolf Dens are for 2nd grade boys and girls
- Bear dens are for 3rd grade boys and girls
- Webelos Dens are for 4th grade boys and girls
- Arrow of Light Dens are for 5th grade boys and girls
Dens will typically meet twice a month as a Den, then the whole Pack (all the Dens together) will have a regular meeting once a month. There is often an additional activity (such as a Hike, Campout, Field Trip, or other special event) once a month, which may be for the whole pack, or just for that Den.
All Cub Scout Pack leaders are volunteers. It is expected that each family will participate in helping the pack to provide a great program for the Scouts. Some will be Den leaders – and there are great resources to help with that, Some will help behind the scenes for the Committee, or will otherwise help organize some of the specific events and activities. The Parents and Committee typically meet once a month, there will usually be some open play activities for the Scouts while the parents and committee meet.
Pack 468 currently meets at Whetstone Community Center on Wednesdays at 7:00pm to 8:00pm, on days when MCPS is in session. If this does not work for your Family’s schedule, let us know, we can help you find another pack nearby that meets on a different night.
